Intentions

Create a fun party game mixing memorisation, humor and Simple intuitive gameplay

What I did

  • Conceived  the original idea and lead the game's vision

  • Designed the main features and game rules

  • worked on several particle effects

  • tweeking and balancing

Concept

HouKaPiTé is a multiplayer game up to 4 players, where the player controls bouncy sacrificial animals on a ritual plate trying to survive. In order to do so, the player has to listen to the incantation of an evil shaman who is shouting  the sounds: Hou, Ka, Pi and Té. Each sounds representing a corner of the plate and are set on fire at the end of the incantation. The sounds are randomly generated during each sequence and players have to memorized the pattern to avoid getting blown to pieces.

 

Experience

HouKaTiPé was my favorite and most succesful game jan for several reasons:

  • The concept of the game was perfectly fiting the game jam's theme 

  • it had a simple and fun gameplay that anyone could pick up and enjoy instantly

  • Most importantly we had alot of fun making it, which is in my opinion the best way to make games
